Home office, yes please!

Would someone please be so kind as to give me a home office like this? And take care of my children while I shut myself in there for a couple of months? For now, all I have is that wooden box standing on the table in this pic.

And a laptop on the sofa table where I (try to) work, with all three kids around me. I’m sure I would answer all my emails  in time and get my blog posts up much quicker if I had this room!

Ems Designblogg is all about Scandinavian style, soft minimalism and beautiful functionalism. The blog is Sweden's oldest interior design blog and has been up and running since 2005. I strive to fill it with a mix of inspirational and aspirational images from all over the world, while keeping true to my own voice and style, where transparency is key and creative criticism is highly valued. When I'm not blogging, I bake chocolate cakes for my kids, hang around Stockholm's cafés and drink way too many cappuccinos, do some occasional styling work, and try to fit in some inspiring travel adventures in between. If you have any suggestions, propositions for collaborations, other ideas or just want to say hi, throw an email at: [email protected].

  • BEAUTIFUL image! with all the earthy colors, that turquoise little planter looks gorgeous! xoxo

  • Ever since I got my laptop I have not used my office. But then, I don't have kids, so not as many distractions. I do find that I am still distracted by my "to-do" list of home chores if I'm looking at them. Being able to shut a door makes a big difference. Hope you get your dream office one of these days.

  • I totally love your blog! I stumbled upon it the other night and found myself going through all your old entries. So many wonderful and inspiring things!

  • ps. We've added your blog as a link.

what are those stools? they look nice

  • We used to have a room for an office, however, all that changed when i got pregnant. I decided to put my office in a closet so that i could use the "original office" for the nursery. I had to put some of my books in boxes, but it has worked out great so far. Now, whenever, i go to my closet office(although there are doors, it's not deep enough for me to lock myself in it), my 15 month old thinks it playtime-he yanks on the printer and wants to crawl under the desk etc.:-) I might just post a pic on my blog… Sorry about the long

  • simple but gorgeous in a way..:)

  • Thanks for the input everyone! I think having my own office will keep being just a dream for the next decade or so, until my oldest son's move away from home. But I'll keep that dream alive, that's for sure! 🙂

@pw: The stools are classic Tolix stools.

  • Absolutely lovely! I'm sure wonderful work would be done there.

  • The wooden box is great. Three kids, wow! Nice 😉

  • Emma, I just had to laugh when you mentioned your son moving away and your dreams for an office. I hope you don't mind if I share a funny story. — Years ago while working at a furniture store, a woman came in shopping for furniture for a room that would be her new hobby room when her son moved out. She had drawn up a floor plan – and I remind you that she was actually in a furniture store shopping. I asked if he was moving out soon, thinking this was coming up in a month or two. "No," she said, " he's only 16 & won't be moving for at least a couple of years."

Now that's someone with a dream!

  • That room is exactly what I have been scouring the city for – hopefully tucked behind some old garage doors in a forgotten mews…. dreaming…… I'll keep looking though

Omg, totally drooling over here. Excuse me while I mop up my keyboard. Lol! Where is the desk/table and wooden boxes from? LOVE!

  • I'm LOVING those industrial stools. ahh.

  • Hehe it does sound like you are being busy with the kids being out of school. I know the feeling. Two of my nieces are rumbling around in the house trying to catch my attention.
