Bloggers Tour London: Liberty

Last weekend, I was invited to Liberty to meet Emma Mawston, Head of Design at Liberty Art Fabrics, for a presentation of their new collection over tea. The collection, named Secret Garden, was inspired by the classic novel with the same name.

Perhaps some of you read it as children? Then you can probably imagine the wild plant and floral prints, deep colours and even small surprises found in some of the prints. We got to see the original drawings and sketches, hear all about their design process, and how each pattern of this collection was inspired by a different quote from the book. And we had amazing scones with jam and clotted cream, the proper British way!

Ems Designblogg is all about Scandinavian style, soft minimalism and beautiful functionalism. The blog is Sweden's oldest interior design blog and has been up and running since 2005. I strive to fill it with a mix of inspirational and aspirational images from all over the world, while keeping true to my own voice and style, where transparency is key and creative criticism is highly valued. When I'm not blogging, I bake chocolate cakes for my kids, hang around Stockholm's cafés and drink way too many cappuccinos, do some occasional styling work, and try to fit in some inspiring travel adventures in between. If you have any suggestions, propositions for collaborations, other ideas or just want to say hi, throw an email at: [email protected].

  • oooh, I love a bit of design history! I actually wrote an article about the history of Liberty over on Pattern Observer a little while ago, and it was interesting to see how the house style shifted from something more aligned with William Morris to the style more commonly thought of as ‘Liberty’ – a dense, all-over ditsy floral.
Anyway, you can read the article here –

  • vackra mönster:) hoppas du har en härlig solig vårvecka.

LOVE Maria at inredningsvis – inredning it’s, Swedish for decor 🙂
