Sneak Peek: Usine – A New Restaurant by Richard Lindvall

This week Richard Lindvall (the designer behind this amazing concrete-filled restaurant that I think you might remember) is finishing his biggest project yet, a 2000 sqm restaurant, café, bar, meeting place and art gallery, located in an old sausage factory in Södermalm in Stockholm. Usine opens on Wednesday, but I was invited for a preview yesterday, and brought my trusted photographer friend Mikael Axelsson along to give you a little sneak peek.

As you’ll see, the style is French bistro meets Scandinavia, with industrial touches and lots of concrete and expanded metal. I love it all, but my favorite detail is the neon lights above the concrete bar. More photos will follow when the space is finished and the building dust has settled a bit, and hopefully by then someone will have figured out how to turn the lights off to get rid of the yellow tones and weird shadows… But for now, enjoy these photos, and I’ll be back with more later!

Ems Designblogg is all about Scandinavian style, soft minimalism and beautiful functionalism. The blog is Sweden's oldest interior design blog and has been up and running since 2005. I strive to fill it with a mix of inspirational and aspirational images from all over the world, while keeping true to my own voice and style, where transparency is key and creative criticism is highly valued. When I'm not blogging, I bake chocolate cakes for my kids, hang around Stockholm's cafés and drink way too many cappuccinos, do some occasional styling work, and try to fit in some inspiring travel adventures in between. If you have any suggestions, propositions for collaborations, other ideas or just want to say hi, throw an email at: [email protected].
